Redesigning Jewellery, Sizing and Repairs

Do you have heirlooms gathering dust or tired pieces of vintage jewellery with gemstones missing? Have you ever wished you could have these pieces refreshed or redesigned into a more contemporary design or recreate a vintage style setting?

Diamonds and gemstones over decades can be easily damaged, old mounts will often have claws missing and often very worn setting edges.

Remodelling vintage jewellery into new, takes skill and good design. I can present design options and refresh your jewellery into a more contemporary look or simply recreate your old piece and emulate your vintage style mount.

Solutions available include:
  • Recutting diamonds and repolishing gemstones to suit new mount.
  • A new bespoke mount may be the best option rather than work with existing mount.
  • A full design service is available.
  • Old mounts can be recycled and reused for your new piece of jewellery.
  • A full repair service is available and will happily check and advise on all mounts.
Redesigning Jewellery

A client had come to the Diamond Bourse to meet for an opinion on a remount of a  three stone diamond ring.

I examined and reassessed the ring.  The centre diamond was an old cut diamond dating from around 1950 flanked with two modern round brilliant cut diamonds.  I noticed there was a small chip to the girdle.

Both round brilliants were in good condition.  I recommended a diamond polisher who would be able to polish the chip away without losing any significant weight loss.

See centre old cut diamond repolished.  A happy client.

Client happy with new Rubover settimg.

Sizing Rings

My workshop has a full time jobber who sizes rings every day.  It is important to have your finger sized properly as it can be quite irksome if rings are loose or too tight on your finger.

Sizing rings can also be quite challenging especially with warm summers or autumn or winter weather change.

This particular double ring mount I made for a client, reference Oval engagement ring nestling to a full oval wedding ring works well, as the oval diamond sits proud and is wedged and takes centre stage.
